FAQs

Pricing

Pricing for mini grooms and full grooms is based on multiple factors and is determined on an individual basis.  The dog's size and coat type, services requested, the amount of time and difficulty to complete the groom are all taken into consideration when pricing each new furry friend.

Mini grooms start at $60 and full grooms start at $90.

How to book an appointment

All new clients must fill out and submit the New Client form on this website. Our groomer will contact you via email. We have a very limited number of spaces for mini grooms and full groom requests are currently being added to a waiting list.

How far in advance do I need to schedule an appointment?

We require that all new clients have a standing appointment at a set interval of your choice; every 4-6 weeks is advised for most, but depending on your pet and your needs you can go as long as 12 weeks between appointments. Our groomer's schedule is very full and the calendar is usually booked out at least a month.

I need to change my appointment. What’s the best way to do that?

We politely ask that you text us at least 24 hours ahead of time if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Less than 24 hours notice will incur a late cancelation fee of $25. If we come to visit you at your scheduled time and you are not home (and we have not made arrangements to groom your dog without you there), there will be a $50 surcharge to be paid before we can schedule another visit.

My dog has a lot of mats. Is it really necessary to shave her almost bald?

It depends on the severity of the matting. Your dog’s health and well being is our first concern. Minor mats can sometimes be worked out by hand or with other tools. Sometimes shaving down or stripping is the only option. Severe mats can cause skin irritations and hide other conditions such as hot spots, dermatitis, seborrhea, parasites, cuts, scabs, sores and redness. We can't be responsible for the condition of your pet's skin under all that hair, but we will do our best to warn you ahead of time so you are aware of the danger. Because your dog is severely tangled or matted, she is at greater risk of injury, stress and trauma. All precautions will be taken during the grooming of your dog. However, problems can occasionally arise, during or after the grooming, such as nicks, clipper irritation and mental or physical stress. Your groomer will decide whether it is possible to dematt your dog gently and humanely or if a “shave down” is necessary.

Often after shaving, you dog's skin can look fine, but she will spend the next few days scratching like crazy. Unfortunately, this is normal. Severe matting decreases the circulation of blood to your dog's skin. You know how it feels when your foot falls asleep; imagine that feeling all over your whole body and you will understand why your pet is scratching incessantly. Of course, we want your dog to look beautiful, but it's more important that she is healthy. We will not strip your pet without your permission. We will discuss your choices, how best to address them and most important of all, how to avoid the same situation in the future.

What are anal glands and does my dog need them "expressed"?

Your dog has a gland/sac on each side of his/her anus that fills with fluid. This is quite normal. Most often, during the course of having a bowel movement, the sacs empty on their own. If they don't they can become full and very uncomfortable, even painful if left untreated. We check the sacs as part of all our grooms and will only attempt to express the sacs when necessary. We will not force an expression and if we are unable to express the sacs we will let you know.

My dog is kind of cranky and not very well behaved. Will you be able to groom him?

There isn't much we haven't seen or dealt with. We see all dogs as potential friends. Most dogs with behavioral issues are just scared and with care and compassion, a new friendship can blossom. Once in a blue moon, we encounter a dog that just isn't willing to be our friend and when that happens, we will stop immediately, rather than risk injury to either the dog or to the groomer. We hate to do it, but unfortunately, sometimes it is necessary to muzzle the dog for a part of the grooming process, but we strive to make it as quick and as pleasant as possible. If your dog's issues are especially time consuming, there might be a small "cranky friend" handling fee. We will not groom aggressive dogs that are a danger to the groomer. If the groomer feels that she cannot safely complete a groom, she will stop immediately. A partial groom fee will be charged at a minimum of $40 or based on the amount of the groom that was completed.

Do you need to use my water or power?

No. The van is equipped with a 60-gallon fresh water tank and a water heater. We fill up with fresh water each day and bathe each pet with fresh, warm water. We also have a gray water tank on board so we will not need to drain the dirty, soapy water onto your property. The van is equipped with a state of the art inverter system and a generator to run the lights, water pumps, ac unit, dryers and any other equipment that we use.

Is it too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter to have my dog groomed in the van?

Our mobile salon is totally climate-controlled. Toasty warm in the winter and cool without humidity in the summer and for those beautiful fall and spring days that we all can't get enough of, we have 2 built-in roof top fans that safely circulate fresh air.
